#Nomake-upchallenge

 Peter 3:3-4
"...What matters is not your outer appearance—the styling of your hair, the jewelry you wear, the cut of your clothes—but your inner disposition. Cultivate inner beauty, the gentle, gracious kind that God delights in."

In amongst my large circle of friends on Facebook there has been a challenge circulating around called the
'No make-up challenge'
to raise cancer awareness.
The name basically explains it for you, but if you are unfamiliar with it Here's  my definition of this challenge:
Take a no make-up, non-edited selfie, nominate some other girlies to do it with you, so that you don't feel like a complete loser, press 'post', & we are good to go!!
(Pretty harsh definition, but you'll see why I said it like that in just a moment!!)

When I saw these naturally, beautiful young women posting these no make-up, non-edited selfies all over online...
Without even an ounce of shame or fear of getting rejected or torn up by reality of the "real-world"
that they aren't beautiful enough...
I then looked at my own heart & thought to myself.

Would I actually be able in that moment, to get off the
"High-horse-Life-style
we as Christian's
(especially women)
like to ride
& would I be able to lower my pride just for that moment??

I mean don't get me wrong or anything, but I know a lot of important people on Facebook...
So with that being said, Am I ready to
show the cyber-world the real 'me'??

As I continued watching all these young ladies post their selfies,
the love & support that was shown to each other was incredible!!
I was totally blown away by these encouraging comments to one another! :)
How awesome is it to have Unity with Women within the Christian community of today?!
We are so blessed to be able to pray & encourage one other & remind each other, even daily that we are fearfully & wonderfully created in the image of our Saviour!!

When I was thinking about all of this Challenge stuff,
I kinda laughed because I hadn't even been nominated yet!
(emphasis on the "YET")
& fingers crossed I wouldn't be...
Until, a sweet friend thought of me
& decided to give me a nomination!

In that split second,
 Fear struck inside me.

Am I actually even pretty enough to take an Natural selfie?!
(I mean like, come on.
Look at my face, I just discovered a new zit on my poor chin, my eye brows definitely need a really good plucking & my teeth need an extreme whitening...
What am I going to do with myself?!)

Am I really actually even Beautiful enough to fit the
"criteria" for this challenge??!

I don't think so!!!!!

Was the reply screaming in my mind.
Thoughts were racing,
as each second ticked by.
How can I get out of this? I thought.
Is there even really a rule that says
I 'have' to do it?? Hmmm...

A little God voice inside,
then stopped me & said:
"This is not just a challenge to
prove something to your friends,
this is a challenge from me, to see if you would
have the guts & courage to lower yourself
& not be ashamed of the real you."

Because the real you is always good enough!!

I then took out my handy dandy iPhone & went-to-town
on taking some very Natural-state selfies.
Woah, that was crazy hard!!
You don't even know how badly,
I wanted to put a filter on my photo before posting it,
but like all the other very, brave young women out there
I posted it quick & just looked away.

I felt so ashamed, but I knew God was proud of me
& He's proud of every young lady who took a stand
& showed the cyber-world the real you!

We did it ladies!
Definitely was a challenge, but we did/are doing it!!
Y'all are making me so proud!
(Tear filled eyes right now!)

In closing keep this verse in mind!
Be incredibley-blessed my sweet 'sisters' ❤️

Psalm 139:14 says
"I praise him because I am fearfully and wonderfully made..."

Until next time,

~Kerrington

  1. Way to go Kerrington; you have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of! You are full of natural beauty. I love your strawberry-blonde hair and freckles...they match your personality perfectly and it's all topped off with that lovely smile of yours.
