Abandonment

Experiencing the true, pure love life of Jesus Christ
requires a little more than just
prayer and Scripture studying.
It calls for a total abandonment to Him.

Sometimes, the word "Abandonment" can be a very frightening word for some.
It's likely a fear of losing all the little control they have over their life to a God, they don't even know if he actually exists. These attacks go on over, over, & over again in their minds as they contemplate how free they would actually feel, if they could just let go of the pain & the trials that have held them back from
that total surrender & abandonment to our King of kings.

Abandon-
to leave and never return to.

Awhile back, maybe a year ago
I was at a girls church group
& I decided to make a public,
permanent decision for the rest of my life on earth.
(I know...scary thought eh?!)

A Decision, that would never be regretted or taken back.
A decision, that I would one day look back on
& be so grateful for.

That Decision was,
From that day forward...
That I would Abandon my heart &
my earthly "Love life" to God!
Until he wanted to open that door.
I was to leave it completely at the foot of the cross
& to not return to that area of my heart,
until God said so.

I did this not at all out of a want or need of gratification, or applause or even the little-silliest thing of, attention.
(Because I know we all love the spot light...)

I did this as an act of obedience to
my Precious, Heavenly Father.
I did it out of a step in faith,
believing that God would one day
open that door in my heart,
all in his perfect timing.

I like to be referred to as an "Abandoned Believer".
Being abandoned doesn't mean
I'm more Holy or even remotely
at all closer to God.
Because I still make mistakes,
I still have trials,
I still have those very messy-emotional moments,
I am still human,
but at least this time,
I got God on my side cheering
me on!

Now that you have read about this sweet
Freedom that comes from total Abandonment,
Are you ready to experience it in your own life?!
All it takes is a simple prayer & a step in Faith!!
Ready. Set. Abandon.

Let's Pray this over our lives together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We just simply say, Thank you so much for
the ability of being able to Abandon ourselves in you.
God, thank you for that sweet Freedom
we receive when we give our everything to you.
God we look to you in this very moment,
because you are where our help comes from.
Our Arms are high & our hearts are totally abandoned.
We stand in awe of you, the one who truly gave it all.
Our souls, Jesus to you we surrender.
For you are our everything!

In your precious name,
Amen!!

Until next time,

In Christ Alone

In Christ alone,
My hope is found.

He is my light, my strength,
 my song

This cornerstone,
this solid ground

Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love,
what depths of peace

When fears are stilled,
when strivings cease

My comforter, my all-in-all

Here in the love of Christ I stand
There in the ground His body lay

Light of the world by darkness slain

Then bursting forth in glorious day

Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory

Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me

For I am His and He is mine

Bought with the precious blood of Christ
No guilt in life, no fear in death.
This is the power of Christ in me

From life’s first cry to final breath

Jesus commands my destiny

No power of hell, no scheme of man

Can ever pluck me from His hand

Till He returns or calls me home

Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand.~Owl City

Oh, In Christ Alone!!
Our hope, our strength, our peace, our power, our love...
Our everything is found in him!

Why must we make our lives so complicated??
...& look for strength & peace, etc.
In the places or things of the world?!
When God gave us easy access to all of his wonderful blessings & so much more through his son, Jesus Christ.

Today I am choosing to find my peace,my strength, my identity,
my hope, my love,my power, my authority, my everything...
In Christ Alone!

"Till he returns or calls me home Here in the power of Christ I'll stand..."

Until next time,

Kerrington

Salvation Chalk-Board + Fisher-price dream kitchen set = enjoy!!

Readers,
You may be very puzzled when you read this title, but don't you worry,
it ALL makes perfect sense in the end!

To start off if you were a Faithful Sunday-School Attender or not we all may have heard the saying either in Children's ministry or when you said the Salvation prayer...

"When you give your heart to Jesus he wipes all your sins clean, just like a chalk-board."

I have probably heard 2 dozen or more Sunday School teachers use that line...
& I still had trouble picturing Jesus cleaning my entire life of sin?
How could anyone love me SO much?
Pretty confusing stuff for a six year old!

With that being said let's take a little walk down memory lane...
Think back to when you personally gave your whole heart to the Lord!
Do you remember?
(& don't forget if you haven't become part of God's family...there is still time, doesn't matter if you are 95 or 2 years old :D
God's timing is amazingly perfect!)

I sure do remember my big day,
I remember standing in my chilly, little, playroom on a Winter Afternoon wearing my cute,
purple slippers at the age of 6,
playing "washing dishes"
(with my favourite entire complete Kitchen Appliances & cupboards set...no cheap stuff!
we're talkin stove, fridge, microwave, table & chairs, sink & all the plastic play food you could ever imagine?!
...I may have been spoiled,
but man I loved that thing!)

I was racking my 6 year old mind while trying to wash the dishes & spoon feed my baby doll Kate & talk on the phone with my imaginary husband, who was late coming home from work, again!!!
 I couldn't believe him,
How dare he miss supper......twice!!
(Mommy at heart, can you tell?)
Thinking about all that my Sunday School teacher had said earlier that week, about how much sweeter life would be to walk with Jesus!

Then my Mom walked into the room,
Never felt this way before.
(Dropped the dishes into the sink
& hung up the phone.)
My heart dropped into my stomach...
(This is scarier than taking a test I thought!)
Do I tell her I want Jesus to be my friend???
Come on she's my Mom...awkward!!

Thoughts running through my mind.

What do I say?
Has everyone done this?
Will I look different?
Will I hear God's voice?
Will I feel clean?

Long story short,
(I say that because the rest is history!!)
I became God's daughter that day in my little playroom & have been loving Him ever since,
I have had my many bumps & hills along the way, but I had to remember just one simple thing...

"When you give your heart to Jesus he wipes all your sins clean, just like a chalk-board."

Now every time I walk by our home Church nursery & see that little Girls dream kitchen set sitting there...
(which now is faded, old, wrecked, parts completely missing...
it's served it's time well lol!)

 I think to myself,
Thank you Lord for my Life
& for amazing Sunday school teachers who taught me that Jesus can clean ANY sin & he just wants to be my friend,
& if I didn't ask him as my friend that day, I would probably still be playing with that Kitchen set wondering what could have been,
If I just let Jesus wipe my little
Chalk-board clean...

Look at me...tearing up at 1:43am!
(That's right Jesus makes me work mid-nights on the blog...haha)

P.S. Playing with that kitchen set is NOT the only reason I signed up to volunteer in the church nursery ;)

If you haven't asked Jesus to walk with you yet,
please,please,please do!
I can't make you do anything,
but I will say one thing,
My life has never been the same since!!
(I know people say that about gym memberships all the time, but we are talking about everlasting life here!!)

So send me an email when you do,
I would love to celebrate with the Angels when you become my Sister/Brother in the Lord :)

Blessings to you all Sweet Friends!
